DAI BULLETIN | Barcelona | WEEK 8, APRIL 2018

tag: Athens

April 20, 2018.

On Friday April 20, the DAI spaceship landed in Barcelona, the 'City of Marvels'; radiant capital of modernism and longstanding hotbed for both anarcho-syndicalism as well as Catalonian separatism. The current mayor of the city, the first woman to hold the office, is the fantastic Ada Colau, one of the founding members and spokespeople of the Plataforma de Afectados por la Hipoteca (PAH) (Platform for People Affected by Mortgages), which was set up in Barcelona in 2009 in response to the rise in evictions caused by unpaid mortgage loans and the collapse of the Spanish property market in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis

If you are around, we warmly invite you to join us on Sunday, 22 April at Civic Centre Sant Agusti, Carrer del Comerç 36, where we will host the 21st edition of our Roaming Assembly: CRACKING THE MOULD , this time curated by Barcelona based curator and educator Veronica Valentini

We not only want to thank Veronica for her intellectual commitment to our Planetary Campus and for generously sharing her network, but equally so for the invaluable, highly informed practical assistance she has offered us while we were preparing for our soft landing in the overwhelming mega-city that Barcelona also is. We extend our gratitude to our Barcelona based student Irati Irulegui as well as to the staff at MACBA.

The esteemed Roaming Assembly guests will contribute to several other Planetary Campus activities, happening on Saturday April 21 and Monday April 23.

Likewise the DAI's student body will team up with our regular tutors and the guest tutors they are recruting from their Iberian networks or otherwise. The theory seminars, face-to-face meetings, study groups, walks, performances, presentations, round tables, rituals, screenings and small excursions, interspersed with countless communal meals will all take place in Barcelona.
