DAI BULLETIN | Week 1, October 2018 in Arnhem
......A few months ago a new organ in the human body was tentitavely announced. They said it might be the largest organ. They call it the Interstitium, a network of fluid filled spaces surrounded by connective tissue that protects and connects the organs and other tissue of the body. This discovery was made visible by their shift from looking at dead bodily parts to living ones.
......I think about my body, the student body, the roaming body, about what conditions we need for our individual and collective bodies if we're mobilising their intelligences 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I think about how functional body systems rely on communication and feedback loops from all its parts in order to know itself, I think about the importance of the connective tissue, the interstitum that binds us together, that circulates, that supports, to create the conditions to be met, to arrive, to land...into the scene, into our bodies.
......and without walls and bricks, (and in a world where we need to think beyond borders and nation states) what connective tissue needs to be woven, what invisible lines of connection needs to be made real, what practices need to be created to support us.
......How to care for our particulars while caring for our waves
