2016-2018 Leon Filter

Leon Filter is an artist and author based in Berlin and Rotterdam. His work—tree bending, father research, model building, breath investigation and mirror transmission—materializes in different states of video, drawing, performance, and text, as well as in their supporting settings and collaborations. Oriented towards indexical and genealogical relations, he focuses on the processes through which the visual creates charged constellations, exploring present conditions through personal narratives.

He studied Art Praxis at the Dutch Art Institute, Film/Video and Production of Knowledge in Art, Design and Media at Merz Akademie in Stuttgart. He was Co-initiator of the artist-run space LOTTE- Land Of The Temporary Eternity in Stuttgart. In 2016 he was a Fellow at the Akademie Schloss Solitude and recently in residency at the Dream Art Institute in Arnhem.

Most recent public exposures of his work took place at KW in Berlin, State of Concept in Athens, MACBA in Barcelona and Van Abbe Museum in Eindhoven, De Kijkdoos in Amsterdam, WKV in Stuttgart and through his Artistbook biegen with August Verlag Berlin and a series of self-published artist books.
