DAI Week nr. 2 November 2020 in Oldebroek.
DAI WEEK 2 ~ from 13 to 20 NOVEMBER, 2020 in Oldebroek
Please contact Jacq van der Spek for all things in relation to your arrival
What:
Regular program. Those who can manage to join us will gather in 5 classrooms located in a schoolcamp in the woods; COOP tutors will all have both, in flesh, as well as remote presence. The theory-tutors will join remotely. We will set up screens in every classroom and facilitate their presence. Ana Teixeira Pinto will join us to present Probe 1 of our new public program "How To Undo Things with Theory".
Where:
With France again under lockdown, a DAI Week at PAF in St. Erme, France has become impossible. We are definitely still aiming for DAI-Weeks at PAF in February and May 2021, but for now hosting those students and tutors and crew who can manage to join us in the Netherlands is the most realizable option that we have.
Today November 10, 2020, education in the Netherlands is still exempted from any group size limitations, if of course all of the safety-guidelines are carefully and strictly implemented - keep a keen eye on DAI's Covid-19 Protocol. Apart from the obligatory mouthcaps that we will all wear during all sessions together in a room, plus the obligatory one-and-a-half meter distance between bodies, we will see to it that all rooms will be continuously aired (so bring your warm sweaters and woollies !).
Students and tutors are allowed to travel in order to attend education. Also if they come from abroad. DAI will provide you with a letter if necessary. Please contact Rik Fernhout. Returning to your home base outside of the Netherland is likely to come with restrictions. Please check - and if in doubt: contact Rik ( who will not be able to respond on the same day as he is working towards an exam in regard to exam regulations, requested by the government)
The Dutch government till this very moment is quite vocal about its reluctance to force "education" into a lockdown, therefore we have prepared everything for a "blended" DAI WEEK in the woods of the East-Netherlands. That said: we must all keep in mind that the entire situation remains precarious and unpredictable. This is what it is - DAI crew, as always, is committed to make the best out of it.
Study:
Our second DAI Week 2020-2021 will take place at the Buitencentrum Oldebroek (all 5 HTDTWT-seminars, 5 Coop's and all the various Planetary Campus sessions).
Sleep:
For overnight sleeping we will all be accommodated in cottages at holiday resort Landal Landgoed 't Loo (max 2 people covid-proof per house, one per room). The holiday park will exclusively serve us for overnight sleep & breakfast.
No gatherings of more than two/three people in the park
– under NO condition. ALSO NOT OUTSIDE.
The Dutch governement only allows for meetings of 2-3 people. Please note that we have not booked the Landal houses under the exemption for education. Landal has no permission to accommodate educational group meetings inside or outside houses. We are only allowed to use the houses and facilities as individuals, or together with your house mates.
From " the park" to "school" means a 20 minutes walk along a small road through the woods.
And back of course. For your safety it is recommended to bring a flashlight and/or a reflective vest.
When dark, do not walk on your own, but please ALWAYS walk in small groups of two or three people.
Take care of each other.
There is not much traffic, but during the night it can get very dark and it is better to make yourself visible.
At the park you can rent a bike if you do not want to walk - the walk however is not strenuous; the distance can in no way be compared to the distance from the Landal park to radio Kootwijk.
Eat:
Breakfast distribution at The White House (see map of the park) which you are asked to take out to your houses. Lunches and dinners will be brought to "school" - into the classrooms or, if it is not raining and not too cold we can perhaps eat outside: the Buitencentrum has several outdoor fire places.
Remote participation:
WE ARE WORKING ON A PLAN TO IMPROVE OUR DIGITAL SUPPORT STRUCTURE IN THE CLASSROOM - SO THAT THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE BOUND TO JOIN US REMOTELY CAN STILL BE VERY MUCH PART OF OUR COMMUNITY.
Contact person for tutors and students joining us from their various home countries is Peter Sattler.
DAI Week 2 Crew (making it all possible), present in Oldebroek:
