Please join artist Laima Jaunzema for the public workshop “Hibernating Lava -Unfolding Otherwise”, part of Research Center for Material Culture's workshop series “There is Nothing to Fix. You Just Have to Let it Rock". This series is curated by artist Raoni Muzho Saleh beginning from embodied solidarity as a form of resistance. Saleh invites participants to become familiar with our rage and grief as a source for personal and collective power to create liberatory change. The workshop will take place on 13 June 2025 | 13.00-16.00 | Studio, Wereldmuseum Amsterdam. Doors open at 12.30.
In a moment when a great many political questions are articulated in the rhetoric of masculinity, the present talk would like to examine the codifications of excess and the codifications of stoicism via which male aggression accrues cultural capital, and by extension, economic value; how does culture map onto the body a gendered vision of control, resistance and redress; and the surge of revolutionary energy without a clear political content, defined solely by the idea that violence gives rise to the sublime. ~ Book Presentation The White West: Fascism, Unreason and the Paradox of Modernity and conversation between DAI theory tutor Ana Teixeira Pinto and Felix Stalder ~ June 11, 6 pm at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.
