We are happy to announce that Casco is one of the one hundred or so fellows of this year’s Gwangju Biennale, The Eighth Climate (What Does Art Do?) whose exhibition opens on September 1 and will be on view until November 6, 2016. The fellows are a group of small- and medium-scale art organizations and institutions from all across the world that each contribute significantly to artistic production and new practices, yet who also often remain unacknowledged in comparison to the bigger players. As a fellow, Casco will participate in To All the Contributing Factors, a forum held at the beginning of the biennale (September 2-4), where we will share experiences and exchange knowledge with our peers.

Furthermore, we’re delighted to see that so many of the artists and practitioners who we’ve been working closely with over the last years are also contributing to the biennale, including; Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Ruth Buchanan, Cooperativa Cráter Invertido, Ade Darmawan, Fernando García-Dory, Adelita Husni-Bey, Metahaven, Christian Nyampeta, Bik Van der Pol, The Otolith Group, Natascha Sadr Haghighian, Aimée Zito Lema, Pauline Boudry and Renate Lorenz, and Arseny Zhilyaev. Last, but by no means least; we are very proud that our director, Binna Choi, has worked on this biennale as curator, alongside a curatorial team that includes Maria Lind as artistic director, and Azar Mahmoudian, Margarida Mendes, and Michelle Wong as assistant curators.
