Tereza Dvořáková (Brno, 1992) explores the tension between sign, text, and meaning in her textile creations. Through abstract forms, she creates connections between imagination and the symbolic order. She translates culturally specific references into a universal language, expressed through materials, shapes, and slogans. These elements aptly describe the eclectic present, where there is no longer a need to adhere to the described, but to redefine the established and participate in the meaning. The utility that is specific to her artistic work allows everyone to grasp these messages through their own identity and personal intervention. Essential deadstock materials are part of the form cycle in her work, contributing to sustainable plasticity. She combines traditional working methods with digital ones, flat images with three-dimensional ones, and her work is a visual representation of contemporary thinking about the relationship between history and the future. Tereza Dvořáková holds a Master of Architecture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and a Master in Art Praxis from the Dutch Art Institute. She completed internships in the Textile Studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague and in the School of Conceptual and Contextual Practices at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions, as well as in group shows. Notable are her permanent textile interventions in the new spaces of GAMPA (Gallery of the City of Pardubice).
Alongside her artistic work, she also engages in sustainable fashion creation under the name Vivat Život. She primarily focuses on reused materials, fairpayed work, machine embroidery, and handbags production.
She has recently become one of the founders of a collective (no name as of yet) that brings together artists who balance on the border between fine and applied arts. The collective members exhibit and collaborate; they apply various media of applied arts into fine art, thus creating a specific overlap and redefining the concept of craft.
