COOP SUMMIT 2024 ~ Moving with the Dunes
Saturday, September 7 ~ 16:00 - 18:30
Starting location: Dar Souiri ~ Association Essaouira Mogador, 10, avenue du Caire, Essaouira
COOP study group FOREST IS LONG-TERM presents:
Extractivist infrastructures hold the world in suspension, trapping the future in the present, leaving little room for alternative arrangements. Oscillating between movement and fixation, arrivals and departures, we gather, hold a pose, a breath; preparing the material conditions for new possibilities and ways of being in the world.
FOREST IS LONG TERM asks us to consider landscapes beyond their abstract and economic value. Over the course of this year we roamed, encountering places, peoples and other entities; tracing material flows, learning how to dwell and puzzling on the question of what it means to think and be “long-term.”
Moving with the Dunes invites you on a sonically infused journey beyond Essaouira, to a place where histories of trade, occupation, transportation, and migration between The Baltic and Mediterranean Seas converge. Through a series of activations and embodied moments, we will explore ways to think, talk, and be together, dwelling in the places we traverse, metabolising the experience while enjoying hand-made offerings in the shade.
