Book club meeting is a situation for reading, feeling, listening and sharing. We are going to float between different formats of meetings and issues. In the next meeting, everyone can share texts/poems/articles about translation and self-identity through native/foreign language. What remains important is that this moment is meant to decompress, recollect and give words to our collective transformation.
Our first meeting sprung from a desire of softly closing our first DAI week by collectively being filled with the same soft spoken words. We gathered underneath the yellow dim light of a seventies lamp in a cosy, small library. There had been a loose proposal for the theme of 'portals' which didn't reach every one of us. So we shared what we brought, when we felt like we could.
This time, we will create an affective space of participation, in which theory will fade into the background, and our experiences of reading and being present together will come to the fore. The hybrid situations of gathering will flow in streets, libraries, bars, parks and forests. We will create our own network of interlacing of texts and meanings. It's a practice for listening, to delve into words, intonations and breathing, creating a common space of trust, care and exchange.

This student initiative is facilitated by DAI by making it part of the syllabus 2022-2023 and by providing space and time for gathering. It is embedded in the curriculum component Factory 2.0 and participation is credited with ECTS.
