2017-2019 Jasmin Schädler (Germany)

Jasmin Schädler’s rich and varied academic background of Integrated Cultural Studies (BA) and Physics (BSc) at Jacobs University Bremen and, later, Theatre Directing at Akademie für Darstellende Kunst Baden-Württemberg, gives her a strong hold on critical theory and philosophy, particularly feminist theory. Jasmin enjoyed an internship at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Tennessee, and, more recently, a residency at Akademie Schloss Solitude. Her interdisciplinary practice ranges from performative installations to dance and stage pieces. Thanks to her wide professional experience, she has developed an acute sense of the different institutional and disciplinary structures, with their own hierarchies of knowledge and identity, which set up the possibilities and limitations of creative action, be it scientific research, theatre directing, or the, perhaps more informal but equally determinant, social and economic conditions of the art world. Jasmin’s studies at the DAI are supported by the DAAD scholarship.
