DAI students past and present - Echo Guo (DAI 2025), Maoyi Qiu (DAI 2022), and Raffia Li (DAI 2021) come together in Spiral Tactics, an exhibition at Some Space Gallery, Chiangmai. Rejecting static notions of home, Spiral Tactics reimagines home as a fluid, ever-evolving landscape shaped by migration, memory, and collective struggle. Between longing and resistance, movement and stillness, home emerges not as a fixed place but as a shifting construct — an open space shaped by shared memory and personal journeys. On view January 5th until January 14th.
Between departure and return, visibility and tangibility, this exhibition unfolds like a spiral—fluid, resilient, and steadfast. Unlike dramatic leaps or intense sprints, the spiral is a sustainable form of movement, enduring and perpetual.
Bringing together works in video, photography, installation, performance, and poetry, the exhibition reflects a process of reclaiming agency amidst cycles of migration, grief, and resistance. These works explore how the body bears trauma and transformation, rebuilds through grief, and traces the imprints left by displacement, uncovering the radical potential of resilience.
Spiral Tactics embodies a rhythm: a soft yet powerful movement that rejects linearity, embracing detours, pauses, and rituals as strategies for survival and belonging. The body becomes both a site of vulnerability and a vessel for transformation, carrying the weight of past journeys while gesturing toward futures still unfolding. This exhibition also holds space for shared fatigue while framing hope and collaboration as acts of resistance. Through interwoven narratives, Spiral Tactics invites you to sense along: How do we inhabit a world in constant flux? How do we reclaim belonging when the ground beneath us is ever changing?
