COOP ~ Half Land, Half Sea: Transcartography of Resistance from Day to Day

Seminar 1: 10 - 12 December 2024

We are thrilled about our first encounter in Nida with all of you. Together, we will start looking for entry points into the Transcartography of Resistance of the Mediterranean, between, and beyond, seas and lands.

Each session in our daily activities aims to facilitate diverse approaches and formats for engaging with our trajectories, always striving for process-oriented, collective, and relational learning modes as a group.

We will explore some of the key nodes underpinning the theoretical and methodological framework of this COOP, by gaining deeper insight into the practices and research of the invited tutors, as well as the work of Archive and its previous collaborations with DAI. Furthermore, we will engage in collective reading using the Arpentage and the Chaos Reading methods, employing transfictioning approaches to different kinds of knowledge(s), crisscrossing snippets from poetry and theory.

Throughout our time together, we aspire to explore constellations of learning, moving fluidly across different times, spaces, narratives, disciplines and discourses. Our rehearsal and assembly will function as a site and tool for collective and ongoing negotiations, questioning how we learn together and move politically.

The sessions will feature material by Etel Adnan, Mahmoud Darwish, Manthia Diawara, Ta-Nehisis Coates, Édouard Glissant, Audre Lorde, Sylvia Wynter, bell hooks, Paulo Freire, Sarah Ahmed, and Keorapetse Kgositsile.

They will be accompanied by Alessandra Ferrini, Chiara Figone, Chiara Cartuccia, and Samira Ghoualmia

The Chaos reading is an associative, intuitive way of fictioning approaches to different kinds of knowledge(s). Throughout associating and crisscrossing snippets from the selected texts, we form our own messy spirals and dreams to reimagine relations, stretching boundaries of how we are taught to read and write to open up a collective polyphonie and a scape of co-learning, attempting to undo linear, fixed hierarchies of learning.
