Kıvanç Sert was born in Ankara in 1992. Placing himself between art,design and sound, he is inspired, throughout his practice, by the idea of play and everyday tools, as well as by investigating cultures, ideologies, object-users, and space relations. Kıvanç Sert uses creative activities and productions as a tool to point out problems, ask questions, and create communities. He is interested in being a part of communities by building and creating free spaces where sharing and learning from each other can happen. Kıvanç Sert was the founder of Açık Alan Collective (Open Space), where  various nonprofit workshops, seminars, exhibitions, and events were organized between 2014-2018. He was also the co-founder of Bankpank, a mobile art radio collective that uses broadcasting to create to physical space and connect a community. During 2018-2022 Bankpank experimented with the idea of creating spaces without fixed locations. 

Kıvanç Sert studied at Vienna Technical University Architecture(2011-14) before taking Industrial Design at Istanbul Bilgi University (2014-18). Later, he attended Sabanci University's Visual Art and Design Master (non-thesis) program (2020-2022); he worked as a teaching assistant during this period. Between 2022 and 2024, he worked as a part-time lecturer in the Interior Design department at Istanbul Kent University. In 2024, Kıvanç Sert graduated from DAI and became a future D*tch immigrant art worker.
