Shaza Omran is a visual artist, currently based in the Netherlands

In her work she uses various mediums. Trained in painting and drawing, she is currently working increasingly in installation, text and performance. She is interested in reinterpreting our understanding of the recent historical and political events that have intersected with her personal life experience. Through research and line drawing, she explores human forms and conditions. More recently, she has been experimenting with other forms of reinterpretation, such as animation.

She received her BA in Fine Art from the University of Damascus in 2012, and began working towards an MA before moving to the Netherlands in 2017. She received an MA in Art Praxis from the Dutch Art Institute in 2024. Her work has been featured as part of exhibitions at; Gallery Sanaa (Utrecht), WG Kunst (Amsterdam), Galatea Foundation and she received a residency in 2023 at De Nijverheid, Utrecht.
