2016-2018 Ulufer Çelik (Turkey)

06.10.17

Ulufer’s interest are broad and yet interconnected: architecture, education, public space, curatorial practice, memory and archaeology. Ulufer states that she wants to carry out ‘a comparative study of memory and archaic residuals, working with today’s inhabitants of ancient Mediterranean villages in Turkey’. She wants to explore how ancient remains affect people’s lives. Archaeology and history, psychoanalysis and memory, anthropology and personal experiences are at the base of a potential work of research. This can be reinforced by the skills that she has been developing in the last years, namely collaborative practice, shared authorship, curatorial capacity and a certain playful attitude – as demonstrated in her collaboration in projects such as Studio of Urgency and Imaginable Guidelines Istanbul, of which she is an active participant and co-organiser.
