Showroom Arnhem: Testing the water / Korean National University of Arts, School of Visual Arts
Testing the water is an exhibition organized by ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in collaboration with G.A.N.G. foundation and shows art works of students from the Korean National University of Arts, School of Visual Arts from Seoul.
Photographs, hologram´s, video´s, paintings, objects and interactive works of these young and promising new talents from South Korea will be presented on two locations. The collaboration between ArtEZ and the Korean National University of Arts reflects ArtEZ´s interest in fostering international relations.
The English phrase testing the water means finding out what something is like. It often involves a series of questions and is designed to determine some form of knowledge or intelligence. testing the water is not only an exhibition but a platform for exchange of experience and knowledge. While discussing and interpreting words, images and shapes, constellations and concepts rooted in another cultures, students will be faced with new challenges.
This meeting of creative minds from the East and the West will be documented in a short video clip by students from ArtEZ and will be shown in the exhibition.
Dolf Pellenbarg, interim director Fine Arts at ArtEZ Institue of the Arts will open the exhibition on September 1st at 6 p.m. in Showroom Arnhem (entrance Kleine Oord).
On September 7th Lee Eun Young, a Korean artist living in the Netherlands, will present her work and give a guided tour through the exhibition. Starts at 4 p.m. at Showroom Arnhem.
