SCHEDULE DAI-WEEK 11-16 February 2016

February 11: Thursday

On the first day of each DAI week, the students split up in groups for the so-called COOP Academy; three commissioned projects tailored around specific research questions, organised and tutored by partnering organisations The Van Abbemuseum, Open! and Casco, Office for Art, Design and Theory.

14:00 Seminar Practicing with Institutions, Instituting Practice II

Today with curator and course-leader Nick Aikens, ruangrupa and Annie Fletcher

14:00 Seminar Publishing Class: Between Animals or Beyond Being Human

Today with curator and course leader Jorinde Seijdel, Associate PHD researcher Florian Göttke and guest tutors Janine Armin and Rick Dolphijn

18:30 Dinner for these two groups; cooked by Karen's Kitchen 

20:00 Continuation COOP Academy

13:15-15:00 Guided visit to Casco’s exhibition ‘We Are the Time Machines’

16:00-19:00 Presentation by Kathrin Thiele and discussion

19:00-19:40 Dinner cooked by Mari Pitkänen for DAI/Casco

19:40-21:00 Further discussion on the questions of the day

20:00 Continuation COOP Academy

February 13: Saturday

On the Saturday of each DAI-week, the students split up in three groups for the projects that together form the so-called ROAMING ACADEMY.

16:30 - 18:30 DAI's Associate PHD Research Collective closed session/research meeting with the participation of Lauren Alexander, Florian Göttke, Rosie Heinrich and David Maroto. Auditors: Eduardo Cachucho and Yunjoo Kwak. Today's invited respondent is Josefine Wikström.

18:30 - 19:30 communal dinner cooked by Mari Pitkänen

20:00 DAI's first year students team up with the Associate PHD Research Collective for a seminar with Josefine Wikström. Focus will be on the question of 'use' and 'function' in art and especially in relation to research of the arts in higher education. Recommended reading: Article by Josefine Wikström on the topic of research in the arts soon to be published by Walking Theory & Theodor Adorno's essay "Functionalism Today".

11:00 - TAI CHI session for ALL at the Kortestraat - Project Space.  

12:00 Lunch cooked by Mari Pitkänen at the DAI-Cantina

13:00 - 18:00   ROAMING ASSEMBLY #3

TIME RELEASE

A one-day symposium curated and presented by Marina Vishmidt.

With presentations by Sarah Browne, Cara Tolmie, Josefine Wikström and Hypatia Vourloumis.

Open to the public ~ no entrance fee ~ location: Showroom Arnhem

February 15: Monday

10:45-17:30: The Kitchen / Not The Restaurant; all students attend the lecture-presentations or lecture-performances by 8 students, this DAI-week's guest respondents are Hypatia Vourloumis and Cara Tolmie, with Natasha Ginwala in the audience. Natasha will act as a coach to these eight presenters, setting up a skype meeting with each of them and returning June 6 & 7, 2016 for final 'kitchen-coaching', a workshop in preparation of the concluding DAI-week in July.
