The Showroom is pleased to announce a major new commission by young Lebanese artist Rana Hamadeh, her first solo presentation in the UK.

Co-commissioned with Nottingham Contemporary and IMA Brisbane the project focuses on the story of Raya and Sakina, the infamous Egyptian sister serial killers, who became the first women to be executed by legal court in the modern history of Egypt. For the project Hamadeh has written her first play, performed by actors and filmed in front of an audience at Nottingham Contemporary within a specially conceived environment where sculptural works function as scenography.

In the first public phase of this commission these works, alongside rushes of the film, are presented as The Fugitive Image at Nottingham Contemporary until 31 December. The final film entitled The Sleepwalkers will be presented at The Showroom in January 2016.
