Build Your Own Academy at Roombeek / a DAI-project curated and tutored by Debra Solomon / contributions by Petra Blaisse, Ronald van Tienhoven, Herman Hertzberger, Tony Chakar, Pi de Bruin and others

In January 2004 the Dutch Art Institute (DAI) Dept. of Art in the Public Domain launched a project for all DAI students. Titled Design Your Own Academy in Roombeek, the project would provide the opportunity for students to build models of their ideal DAI in the burrough of Roombeek, an area currently undergoing reconstruction.

Design Your own Academy in Roombeek offered DAI students the possibility to acquire knowledge about experiments both utopian and pragmatic by other visual artists designing architecture and other interventions in public space outside of their official discipline.
