Dear invitee,

Hereby I would like to invite you to the presentation of Call me Ishmael by Doris Denekamp & Geert van Mil on Thursday, September the 25th from 4 pm until 6 pm in Het Vijfde Seizoen.

During their stay in Het Vijfde Seizoen, a residency space in Den Dolder, Doris Denekamp and Geert van Mil worked on a contemporary version of the classic novel Moby Dick by Herman Melville. Together with the patients of the psychiatric institution Willem Arntsz Hoeve / Altrecht ggz they read the story of the mad Captain Ahab and his fight against the white whale.

For this adaptation of Moby Dick, the artists took on the role of the protagonist Ishmael and described the special encounters within the psychiatric setting. Facts, fiction and delusions seemlessly dissolve into one another and form a new literary work, constructed from many different voices. Call me Ishmael will appear this autumn, and will be presented in the Dolhuys Museum in Haarlem.

On September the 25th, the artists will finalize their working period in Het Vijfde Seizoen with a festive gathering during which they will present the project and read excerpts from Call me Ishmael.

See you on September 25th at Het Vijfde Seizoen!
