Rebecca Sakoun and Florian Göttke have used photography as their primary means of re-collecting in the museum's collection. Emphasizing photography's properties as an unstable and ambiguous medium, they aim to explore issues of materiality, absence and presence, visibility and transparency with regards to the collected objects, the objects' makers, the anthropologist, and the museum apparatus, while engaging with their roles as recorders, readers and makers of images in a cross-cultural encounter.

"Collection in the Collection" is a part of a larger work consisting of different chapters, stemming from a 2008 research trip to Iqaluit and Pangnirtung - two Inuit communities in Arctic Canada. The work features a multiplicity of approaches (editorial, personal, fictional, anthropological) serving to foreground the complexity of cross-cultural relations on social and epistemological levels.
