Benjamin Thorel

Benjamin Thorel is an art critic and curator, one of the members of castillo/corrales (http://www.castillocorrales.fr/), a collectively-run independent art gallery in Paris that also comprises a bookshop, Section 7 Books, and a publishing house, Paraguay Press. He's teaching at the School of Higher Education in the Arts of Bordeaux, France, and has been invited for workshops at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, and the School of Fine Arts of Valence, France. He's also part of the editorial board of May, a Paris-based journal dedicated to contemporary art and theory. In 2012, he completed an MA on contemporary publishing practices in art at the EHESS, Paris; as part of this research he's co-editing the series The Social Life of the Book (Paraguay Press, ongoing) and he has curated the public seminar "There's more to life than books, but not much more" at Art Metropole, Toronto, Canada, in May 2013.
