Dear friends and relations,

The kick- off to the upcoming academic year at the DAI took place late September and early October, when we participated in the third Autonomy Project's school and in the Mobile Art School in  Liverpool and on top of that introduced our entirely renewed course structure to our 30 first - and second year students.

This week, in Arnhem,  our faculty is about to embark on the year- long intensive trajectory that will enable participants to deepen their critical understanding of theoretical, political, curatorial and productional aspects of art practice today.

I am thrilled to invite those of you who are around in the Netherlands to join us for a PUBLIC evening lecture on Wednesday, October 31: I heart my computer because all my friends live in it: affect, technology and social relationships in a networked society by Nishant Shah from Bangalore, India.

The coming days we will furthermore have  Alena Alexandrova, Doreen Mende, Jorinde Seijdel, Florian Cramer, Praneet Soi, Grant Watson, Frederique Bergholtz, Tanja Baudoin, Vivian ZiherlRenée Ridgway, Nishant Shah, Simon Ferdinando, Yolande van der Heide, Christian Nyampeta, Tea Hvala,  Nick Aikens and Florian Göttke on board for tutorials, reading groups and workshops.

The gatherings are not necessarily (all) open to the public but visitors are always welcome for a cup of coffee and a chat or discussion in our  Reading Room, where you can also have a look at our publications. Contact Jacq van der Spek if you feel like dropping by.

An overview of this week's program can be found in the schedule below.

Next DAI-week ( November 20- December 2) our qualities as a "roaming academy" will be tested when we move the entire program to Amsterdam to take part, exactly as ourselves, in a huge gathering of young art initiatives and masterprograms curated by Natasha Ginwala and Fleur van Muiswinkel and entitled INexactlyTHIS.

If we won't see you in Arnhem the coming days we'll maybe have the chance to meet you there ?

Very much looking forward to that,

bests,

Gabriëlle Schleijpen
