Dear Autonomy Project participant,

Since the first Summer School in 2010 and the symposium in 2011, the question of how to understand the potential of art's autonomy in today's world, has kept, or even, gained in urgency. We are therefore happy to inform you that the next opportunity for concentrated debate presents itself in the near future. On June 16th, artist Andrea Fraser will give a lecture in the Van Abbemuseum called 'Autonomy and it's Contradictions' to mark the launch of the next issue of Open, Cahier on Art and the Public Domain no. 23, on Autonomy. The event is organized by SKOR | Foundation for Art in Public Space and the Van Abbemuseum. The lecture and discussion will start at 3.30pm and will be in English. Reservations can be made here:

For more information see the attached press release.

Earlier on the same day from 12.30pm to 2.30pm another discussion on autonomy takes place in De Pont, Tilburg, departing from the Camiel van Winkel's plea, published in Metropolis M last summer, to put autonomy back at the centre of the discourse on art again. In the debate Van Winkel will debate with Merijn Oudenampsen, Lissete Smits and Steven ten Thije. This debate will be in Dutch and takes place within the context of 'Comrades of Time', curated by Bas van den Hurk. For those of you who would like to visit both events, a bus will bring participants from Tilburg to Eindhoven, during the trip a simple lunch will be offered. Costs for the bus and lunch are 5 euros and reservations can also be made here: goo.gl/Lrq2R

Finally, the Autonomy Project is also working on producing the edition of the newspaper. This will be an online publication that also will be available from June 16th onwards. This newspaper reflects on and connects the last Summer School organized at DAI in Arnhem last summer in combination with the symposium. Please check: www.theautonomyproject.org for further updates.

We hope to see many of you in Tilburg and Eindhoven on June 16th.

Our very best,

The Autonomy Project Team
