Goleb / new artist in residence: Yota Ioannidou (DAI, 2009)

Goleb* is an artist led space located on the second floor of a former school building (De Vlugt) in Amsterdam New-West. Goleb has nine studios all-varying in size from 25m2 to 130m2, and a project space of 70m2. One studio is offered as part of an artist in residency program while the project space and the studios are regularly made available for the realization of various projects and events.

Yota Ioannidou was born in 1976 in Athens. She graduated with a BA from the Athens School of Fine Arts and a MFA from the Dutch Art Institute (The Netherlands). Her work combines visual documentation, discussions and interviews that act to question and cross-examine phenomena triggered and maintained by various hierarchical structures for political, cultural or social reasons.


Recent projects include "Aula Intergalactica" (2011) in collaboration with Teresa Maria Diaz Nerio at the Word of Mouth curated by Kernel for the 3rd Athens Biennale, the project "On the hill one happens to be sitting on"- A tribute to failure (2011) in Other possible worlds – Dictionary in Space, Art workshop/Casino Luxembourg Forum d'art contemporain, "Restage Radio A" an ongoing project for the Ärchive-Public (2010), and the publication STRATAGEM (2009), detailing the effects of factory relocation, de-industrialization and the consequences of contemporary economic processes.
