2024 - 2025 Factory ~ Student Led: WELCOME TO ALONE CLUB
DECEMBER 9, 2024
Led by Jamie Donald
When: 10:00 - 11:00
Location: TBA
ALONE CLUB invites you to come together—for one time only—to develop a collaborative practice of spending time alone.
Aloneness—in the dense atmospheric environments offered within the soft and heady spaceship of the DAI—is a rare and precious thing. It requires commitment, confidence, care, and—importantly—collusion.
Designed to fill the only gap in the DAI's academically and socially intensive Confluence programme, at ALONE CLUB we aim to develop the tools necessary for our loud and sprawling cohort to carve out vital moments of decompression, unmasking, and resolute solitude.
In the session, we will undertake a series of collective actions, as trial versions of daily practices of being alone. We hope to enhance our awareness and understanding of some key aspects of this work, including:
- Spending time alone together
- Spending time together alone
- Spending time alone alone
We will also make time for a short open discussion of the group's independent concerns. There might be badges.
Please note that due to insurmountable logistical issues, this session will be delivered primarily in the mode of spending time together together. However, those who wish to partake in the session remotely are free to do so at their own discretion.
This student initiative is facilitated by DAI by making it part of the syllabus 2024-2025 and by providing space and time for gathering. It is embedded in the curriculum component WEAVER and participation is credited with ECTS.
