Dear DAI Community. It’s with a heavy heart that we share the sad news that our beloved, Rik Fernhout, passed away on Monday the 5th of August 2024 in Rotterdam. Rik’s body gave in after months of struggling with cancer. He took his last breaths surrounded by his loved ones. A loving partner, friend, son, painter, and art educator, Rik’s presence in our lives will be sorely missed. Rik’s lightness of being radiated to people around him. His curiosity, affection, kindness, witty humor, and love for life touched everyone who knew him. His love, support, and generosity were boundless. He was an anchor for his partner and extended family. Rik loved immensely and endlessly. We will miss you Rik. The pain of losing you is unfathomable. We invite you to say goodbye to Rik with us on Saturday 10th of August at 12.00 at the chapel of Begraafplaats Crooswijk, Kerkhoflaan 1, 3034TA Rotterdam. Together we go to his final resting place, followed by a moment for sharing condolences at the chapel.
