Today we are celebrating  the publication of a book Bialetti, A catalogue by our alum David Bergé (DAI, 2017), in which he constructs an imagined catalogue for the ubiquitous commercial Italian firm Bialetti. He reveals the story of a controversial entrepreneur Renato Bialetti, who never kept records, prototypes or archives. In this void, David Bergé began gathering Bialettis from flea markets and flagship stores. This book is Bergé's proposal of what could be a Bialetti catalogue. It provides insights into the production process of a piece of precision engineering, nourished by the voices of members of the industrialists’ family, as well as former factory workers, secretaries, and union representatives: Bialetti, a 20th-century icon, no longer part of every kitchen today.
