We encourage you to follow LOCALES ~ a curatorial platform founded in Rome that addresses the complexity of contemporary urgencies starting from the political and social history of symbolic places in the city and their local communities. LOCALES aims to inspire a reflection on the public sphere through artistic practices. In 2023, they presented the first edition of If Body, curated by Sara Alberani (DAI, 2025) and Marta Federici. It's a public visual and performing arts program that focuses on the body as an artistic language and learning methodology based on experience and participation.
The If Body’s 2023 program culminated in October 12th with a new performance by Pauline Curnier Jardin & Feel Good Cooperative, produced and curated by LOCALES.
For this appointment, the collective invited the audience to take part in the public shooting of their new film, Le Colonne della Colombo.
The date of the performance was chosen for 12th of Oct, because in many countries people celebrate Columbus Day on this day.Such reference was poetically and irreverently subverted in the performative intervention by Feel Good Cooperative, which brought together monumentality and movement, statuary and collective sing, to resignify through a polyphony of desiring bodies the sites of exploitation and power within public space.
If Body 2023 was supported by Roma Culture and is the winner of the two-year public fund "Estate Romana 2023-2024" curated by the Dipartimento Attività Culturali, and is realized in collaboration with SIAE.
