Ciarán Wood

Ciarán Wood is a Liverpool-born artist who works primarily with video, using historical and personal footage to interrogate the purpose and function of recording events.

He holds a BFA degree from Goldsmiths, University of London and an MA from the DAI/ ArtEZ University of the Arts, and has exhibited extensively in and out of the UK, most saliently in the Barbican (London), DOX (Prague) and in Rupert (Vilnius) the latter as a result of a residency in the Lithuanian centre for art and education. Ciarán has also accumulated a great working experience alongside artists and major institutions worldwide as an artist studio manager and exhibitions producer. His recent video pieces and extended research look into football fan culture, and he contextualise his work in collective social experiences and understanding, alongside broader work on Irish folklore, collective memory and nostalgia.
