Casco Art Institute: Working for the Commons would like to warmly invite you to a gathering to celebrate and discuss the book 'Enfleshed: Ecologies of Entities and Beings'. Evolving from the multifaceted research exhibition Enfleshed–Elaborated initiated by Amsterdam based Finnish artist Kristiina Koskentola (DAI, 2007), the publication, co-edited with Maastricht based Dutch artist curator Marjolein van der Loo and published by Onomatopee, explores multispecies ecologies from an Eurasian perspective. Nice to see so many good "old" former & recent guests/tutors of DAI brought together here in perfectly fitting ways in and around the publication: German Popov, Müge Yilmaz, Nikolay Smirnov, Rick Dolphijn and of course Mi You.10 June 2023, 14:00–17:00 at Casco's HQ
Furthermore with Han Xiaohan, Marjolein van der Loo and Zoenie Deng.
With the editors, a group of contributing artists and writers to the book come together to present lectures, discussions, and do a poetry reading. The gathering includes meditative Manchu shamanic music by Han Xiaohan and a performance inspired by Uralic music by multi-instrumentalist German Popov. Milk tea (vegan option available) will be served in Mongolian and ancient Manchurian style. If the weather allows it, this gathering will take place in Abraham Dolehof–the beautiful courtyard where our institution is situated. You also can purchase the book on the spot!

The publication Enfleshed: Ecologies of Entities and Beings brings together practitioners, thinkers, and artists from across Eurasia to collectively explore multispecies ecologies. The volume reflects anthrodecentric and embodied approaches to collaboration and knowledge production––processes that are always interwoven with a multitude of entities and actors.
In this book, the contributions flow like a river across the Eurasian continent, branching out into all directions. The contributors engage in an exploration of experimental epistemic alliances, which operate as a way to learn and make new dialogic relations. The conflicts generated by ecological disaster, war, the global economy, identity politics, and the power structures of knowledge production and science here intertwine with shamanisms, rituals, magic, speculation, politics, and poetics. How do we imagine an active and implicated role of the human as one being among other beings? What might this entail, and what might this generate?
The book has contributions from Zoénie Deng, Rick Dolphijn, Stephan Dudeck & Christian Vagt & Yuri Vella, Taru Elfving, Giovanna Esposito Yussif & David Muñoz Alcántara (NÆS-Nomad Agency/Archive of Emergent Studies), Fu Xiaodong, Han Xiaohan, Kristiina Koskentola, Marjolein van der Loo, Mi You, German Popov, Nikolay Smirnov, Bo Wang, and Müge Yilmaz. It is edited by Kristiina Koskentola and Marjolein van der Loo, designed by Yannick Nuss and published by Onomatopee with collaborative support from Museum of Impossible Forms and Kohta Kunsthalle in Helsinki. Support for the publication comes from Mondriaan Fund, Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds, Elisabeth Vermaat Müller Fonds, Globus Opstart, and Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux.
