2018-2020 Dayna Casey

Dayna Casey (1988, AU/NL) is an artist, researcher, writer and graphic designer. She has an MA in Art Praxis and Critical Theory from the Dutch Art Institute, and is a 2022-2023 resident at the Jan van Eyck post-graduate academy. In her practice she often unpacks objects or symbols and uses them as story-telling devices to help think through complex entangled political matter(s). She is currently collaborating with artist Eline Benjaminsen on ‘Collapsed Mythologies: A Geofinancial Atlas’, unravelling financial slang and its etymological histories, revealing the absurd (super)natural ‘fictions’ that shape our worldly ecology. Recent academic research has revolved around anxieties of ‘making sense,’ and the patriarchal infrastructures and modernist languages that produce doubt, setting out the stakes of forms of magical thinking and how pluralism or scepticism can be exploited by the right. She is co-editor, initiator and former designer of the KABK Wxtch Craft zine with Erika Sprey, exploring wxtch craft as a queer feminist liberatory practice as part of the Wxtch Craft Studium Generale educational series at KABK.
