Sepideh Behrouzian

Interested in the notions of crossings, transmissions, extra-locality, and reversibility in the context of understanding the concept of "place," Sepideh Behrouzian seeks possible articulations and encounters among elements existing in the interstices of time-space and structure. To achieve this, Sepideh employs storytelling, narrativity, and poetry to evoke unfamiliar ways of reading, listening, and thinking about the perception and representation of landscapes.

Behrouzian completed her studies at the Dutch Art Institute in 2020 and holds a BFA and MA in Painting and Art Research from Tehran University of Art. She was nominated for the Versal Amsterdam Open Book Prize in 2022. Her work has been showcased in various venues, including Electric Room, Dastan, and O’Gallery in Tehran, A Tale of Tube in Rotterdam, Casco Working for the Common Institute's 2020 Assembly, De Buren in Brussels, The Museum of Moscow, Cargo in Context in Amsterdam, and Kayafas in Boston, among others. In 2023-2024 she is a resident at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht.
