Niccolò Masini is an artist, researcher, and PhD candidate in New Media and Critical–Curatorial Practices of Contemporary Creation at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts of Turin. His work explores the inheritances embedded within the politics of time, space, and memory, engaging with the possibilities that arise between spatial modalities and socio-cultural frameworks. Through research-driven and territorially grounded approaches, he investigates how space-based practices shape individual, intra-, and collective identities.
Ranging across media, territories, and perspectives, his recent projects revolve around questions of displacement, processes of de-territorialization, and other-than-human entities. From these associations, he dissects narratives, myths, and their archives, reconstructing them visually, epistemologically, and poetically, while engaging imagination’s role in critically enhancing counter-historical conditions across contemporary practices.

His works and research have been exhibited extensively across the Global North and South, including the Boghossian Foundation (Brussels), the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska (MSURS), the Museum of Contemporary Art MOCA Skopje, the Watermill Center (New York), and the Bali Purnati Center for the Arts (Bali), (among others). He was among the recipients of the Italian Council XIII Edition Research Grant Award (2024), the Miller-Zillmer Foundation Vision into the Future Fellowship (2019, 2021), and, in 2018, was awarded Best Young Artist of the Year (Painting & Sculpture) by the GAMMA Competition and GM Conference in Tokyo. He currently lives and works between Genoa and the Aeolian Islands.
