Kamala Kempadoo
Kamala Kempadoo is Professor of Social Science and Interim Director of the Graduate Program in Social and Political Thought at York University, Canada.
She teaches Caribbean Studies, Black Radical and Black Feminist Thought, Sex Work Studies, and Critical Antitrafficking Studies, and has published extensively on the Caribbean sex trade and global anti-trafficking discourses. She is co-editor, with Halimah A. F. DeShong of the recently published collection Methodologies in Caribbean Research on Gender and Sexuality and is currently working on a new edited book on racism, coloniality and anti-trafficking with Brown University professor, Elena Shih.
When not teaching in Canada she lives in Barbados, where she is also associated with the Institute for Gender and Development Studies at The University of the West Indies.
