during the write way…v2. session (DAI week april), an interest emerged to help each other with writing thesis / draft / proposals.

therefore, this “interstitial” student-led writing session for sharing where we’re at, and giving / getting support and feedback.

1st years with draft thesis proposals.

2nd years with whatever pep talk, encouragement, support we can offer. (and provided you’re up for tearing yourself away from wherever you’re at to join here for a couple of hours.)

my suggestion would be to come with a page with a maximum 500 words that can be screen-shared or pasted into google docs, so we can read along together and look at the text for giving feedback.

additional bonus: if you email your text to me before end of the day on monday, i may have time to do a pre-read prior to the session (but no promises).

building from last month’s initial session, we’ll continue with our discussion of writing practice, pick up with specific topics and questions that came up, and dig in with one or two in-session writing prompts.

velvet will propose a structure for how we might move forward (towards upcoming next sessions) in a way that aims to be wide enough to incorporate the variety of interests among us, while also pointed enough to focus on developing the subtle details of language, practice, and craft.

if you missed last session, it will be easy to join right in.

sharpen your pencils and get your notebooks ready.

what is writing? what can be its purpose? its various uses?

join velvet in a discussion of writing and writing practice.

whatever kind of writing you do, or want to do, is relevant.

if your interest is in making text-based work, or using writing to further develop your thinking, or any other part of your living - bring it!

let’s get into it.

we’ll talk about habits, tricks, pitfalls & process.

how to use writing to say what you want, and to figure out what (the heck) you want to be saying in the first place.

writing (practice) can help get you there.
