ART+FEMINISM: WIKIPEDIA EDIT-A-THON 2021

Sat, 13 Mar 2021, 2–6pm HKT

Help us improve the representation of women and non-binary artists on Wikipedia by joining our Wikipedia Edit-a-thon on Saturday, 13 March—the weekend after International Women’s Day—onsite at Asia Art Archive (AAA) or online from home.

Part of an ongoing collaboration between AAA and M+, Art+Feminism: Wikipedia Edit-a-thon 2021 gathers participants to discuss, create, share, and improve Wikipedia articles about women and non-binary artists in and around Asia. Organised with the assistance of Wikimedia Community User Group Hong Kong, this event is part of Art+Feminism, an international community that strives to close the information gap about gender, feminism, and the arts on the internet.

This is the seventh Wikipedia Edit-a-thon co-presented by AAA and M+. In the last three years, over 150 participants have added or improved over 130 Wikipedia articles on artists and exhibitions in Asia. Click here to browse all of the articles that were added, edited, or translated by our participants in previous edit-a-thons from 2018 to 2020.

You can participate online through Zoom or in-person at Asia Art Archive's A Space. Participants joining in-person will have access to a wide range of materials—books, magazines, and archival material—available at AAA Library, which will assist content creation when online resources are scarce.

In light of the COVID-19 situation, the physical workshop cannot accept walk-in participants. Participants joining onsite will be required to follow hygienic and social distancing precautions, including maintaining a distance of 1.5 meters between desks, mandatory temperature check, hand washing, and wearing a face mask throughout the event. The event is free, and registration is required
