DAI-bulletin 2003-2004 number six February 2004

Dear students, mentors, visiting artists & mediators, members of staff and friends

This is the sixth issue of the monthly DAI-bulletin in the academic year 2003-2004, informing you about our program, about important dates and events in February.
Students: please, PRINT THIS TEXT and keep it with you as an extension to your diary.
Alterations and additions to the program will be e-mailed to you.
SO PLEASE READ YOUR E-MAILS EVERY DAY.

Please take note :
- The studentportraits made by Ajla Steinvag are now updated and on line at www.dutchartinstitute.nl > Students
- In order to recover completely from being slightly overworked Jos Kruit will not be present a DAI for a couple of weeks.
Since our programme is loaded with projects and meetings until after The Big Communication in China (March 23 till April 26), we invited ALL four mentors to slow down their studio-visits in February.
- This will give you some time to complete the necessary work in HAL D.
Helas, we cannot work without electricity, so we will have to wait for Arnhem and/or the University to supply that to us. We will know more this week and you will be informed via e-mail. We count on ALL of you for a helping hand. In the near future we will possibly use HAL D for exhibitions – so even if you don't intend to make BIG works now, it will still be in everybodies benefit to invest some energy in this enterprise. Paul Segers kindly offered to coordinate the man hours.

- On a slow boat to China: concerning our first show in Nanjing called LUGGAGE, we were informed that when considering a work to take, please note that Chinese Import regulations will NOT ALLOW YOU TO BRING ANY WOOD INTO THE COUNTRY, unless it has been fumigated and you have a certificate that proves that you have done this!
THIS INCLUDES the work itself, the stretcher (if it is a painting) and the material it is wrapped in!
So, better avoid wood.
