DAI-bulletin 2004-2005 number three November 2004

This is the third issue of the monthly DAI-bulletin in the academic year 2004-2005,informing you about our program, about important dates and events in November.

News on alumni, current students and lecturers:

Former DAI-students Lin Shih-Ying & Ana Fernandez have been collaborating on a project called Doll house in ZIM Spacer, Rotterdam in October.

Current DAI-student Sverre Bjertnaes has a show in the Trondheim Art Museum in Norway to which DAI-alumni Kristy Trinier and Davide di Saro have contributed a soundpiece.

Current DAI-student Gerco Lindeboom has a show in Galerie Sign in Groningen till November 20th.

A presentation Crossing the Border by current DAI-student Bassam Alkhouri from Syria in de Opstandingskerk in Enschede will open on friday November 12th at 17.00 PM.

Thanks to the excellent manegerial skills that current DAI-student Sjanet Bijker showed while working at a DAI-project in the artistsspace Kunsthuis Syb in Beetsterzwaag she is now invited to become a parttime co-ordinator with SYB.

DAI-mentor Sylvie Zijlmans has returned from Beijing where she worked on a large public project funded by the Fonds BKVB together with Hewald Jongenelis and with the assistance of former DAI-student Li Min.

During the Museumnacht on November 6th DAI-mentor Debra Solomon will present her brandnew culiblog in MEDIAMATIC PRETAPORTERSALON

Other news.
We are relieved to hear that for at least the coming two years there will be no increase of tuition-fees for non-European students or ‘over-30’ students. This makes sense!


Currently DAI is developping a so called Rucksack(backpack)-project that will offer motivated students possibilities to choose from different projects on various locations over the world this Spring.
We hope to provide you with detailed information in December.

Kick off Kodwo Eshun’s project.
During these three days Kodwo Eshun (culture critic, filmmaker and lecturer at Goldsmith’s College and at the Dutch Art Institute) will visit ALL DAI-students in their studios according to a schedule made by Hilly.
Please inform Hilly about preferences for days and hours, if necessary.
