DAI-bulletin 2005-2006 number four January 2006

This is the fourth issue of the monthly DAI-bulletin in the academic year 2005-2006, informing you about our program, about important dates and events.
Students: please, PRINT THIS TEXT and keep it with you as an extension to your diary.
Alterations and additions to the program will be e-mailed to you.

THIS TIME IT IS PRIVATE:
News on alumni and/ or current students and/or lecturers( you are all are most welcome to send in your announcements).

- Both Ruth Linneman (current DAI-student) as well as Alite Thijsen (last year DAI’s projectmanager Rucksack: Tur Abdin, and this spring in charge of it’s follow up, a new ambitious trans national DAI-project on which you will soon be informed) are now off to Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso.
They are participating in the project Ca veut dire Quoi?(2) organised by Stichting ZET in collaboration with the Centre Culturel Francais and the atelier Moussa Kabore, both in Ouagadougou.
A workshop brings together female artists from Burkina Faso, Ghana, The Netherlands and Germany to explore the possibilities of the Lost Wax method, so frequently used by artists in Burkina Faso. An exhibition will take place in CCF-Georges Melies in Ouagadougou from January 27 till February 14.

- DAI alumna Sjanet Bijker (2003-2005) received a grant from the Gemeente Groningen to develope and realize her proposal for ‘A Court for Meet and Greet’ in the public space in Groningen, the Netherlands.

- Je moeder!; 3 januari 2006 - 22 januari 2006.
A presentation by DAI alumna Anne Schiffer (2003-2005) in the Artotheek of Rotterdam.

- Vincent van Gogh; life and work a performance by current DAI-student Michiel Pijpe will be played at Gasthuis Theater, Amsterdam on January 19, 20 and 21 at 21:00 and on January 26, 27 and 28 at 21:00.

- EventArchitectuur + Idan Hayosh (current DAI-student) shows their installation Charge on the exhibition ‘Just In’ in the Zuiderkerk in Amsterdam.
Opening: Saturday, 21st of January, 14:30.
Exhibition: from 21st January - March 7th 2006.

THURSDAY January 12
DAI-mentors Debra Solomon and Rik Fernhout and guest advisors Emo Verkerk (Dutch portrait painter) and Cevdet Erek (sound artist currently artist in residency at the Rijksacademie) will visit students in their studios from half past 10 AM onward.

TAKE NOTICE 1: we are working on a schedule for the visits, please inform me ASAP if you can not be present today.
TAKE NOTICE 2: at the moment of writing, Cevdet Erek’s guest lectureship was not fully confirmed.

THE CIRCUS
A DAI-project on presenting, representing and curating artworks, run by Rik Fernhout. Today test run for the assessments.

WEEK 3

THURSDAY January 19
DAI-mentor John Heymans and guest advisors Sylvie Zijlmans (multi media artist) and Domeniek Ruyters (editor in chief of Metropolis M, leading magazine Dutch contemporary art scene) will visit students in their studios from 9 (John Heymans) and half past 10 AM (guests) onward.

FRIDAY January 20
Two ongoing bi-monthly DAI projects by John Heymans.
1. UNDERSTANDING MEDIA THEORY

2. OPEN COUNTERPOINT new project in collaboration with Open (cahier for art and the public domain published by SKOR) and the Werkplaats Typografie in Arnhem
