Laura Harris

Laura Harris is an Assistant Professor in the Cinema Studies and Art & Public Policy Departments in the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. She holds a Ph.D. in Social and Cultural Analysis from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at New York University. Her writing, which has focused on experimental aesthetic and social practices in the Americas, has appeared in journals such as Social Text, Women & Performance, Criticism and sx salon. Her first book, Experiments in Exile: C. L. R. James, Hélio Oiticica and the Aesthetic Sociality of Blackness, was recently published by Fordham University Press.
