Stefan Majakowski

Stefan Majakowski was born near Minsk and was educated in France, the United States, and Canada, specializing in music composition, photography, and classical languages. He has conceived and realized mixed-media works that combine film, theatre and electronic music as well as directing documentaries.

He was commissioned by the city of Amsterdam to create innovative audio-visual works for a period of two years. In 1999 he founded the Shadow Festival (Amsterdam) in order to accent the most creative qualities in the documentary cinema. His further activities have included: guest lecturer at the Netherlands Film Academy, columnist (writing on television) for the Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad, member of the advisory committee for documentary of the Netherlands National Film Fund.
