Mitch Cope

Born Detroit, Michigan 1973, Mitch Cope works as an artist and independent curator out of Detroit. Most not ably he Co-curated the Detroit section of the Shrinking Cities Project, Berlin. Mitch runs the design/art storefront Design 99 with his wife, Gina in Hamtramck, Michigan. Recently Design 99 and the Mitch’s collaborative group Detroit Tree of Heaven Woodshop were in the exhibition Welcome to Heartland at the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

Design 99 is a retail space for experimental design and contemporary architecture that blurs the distinction between art and design. Created by husband and wife team Gina Reichert and Mitch Cope with the purpose of showcasing local and regional talent, Design 99 is a storefront for new ideas, products, projects, and untapped talent.
