Vdrome, the amazing online cinema is back after the summer, with “Holobiont” by Jenna Sutela, introduced by Luciana Parisi, on view until 14 September. "Holobiont" considers the idea of embodied cognition on a planetary scale, featuring a zoom from the outer space to inside the gut.

The video documents Planetary Protection rituals at the European Space Agency and explores extremophilic bacteria in fermented foods as possible distributors of life between the stars. Bacillus subtilis, the nattō bacterium, plays a leading role.

Vdrome is an online cinema that offers regular, high quality screenings of films and videos directed by visual artists and filmmakers whose production lies in-between contemporary art and cinema.

Vdrome offers a program of exceptional artists’ films and videos that are selected due to the importance of their content, their artistic quality and innovative strength. Most of the works we present are only shown in the context of film festivals, exhibitions and surveys, thus being of very limited access.

It was created in 2013 by Edoardo Bonaspetti, Jens Hoffmann, Andrea Lissoni and Filipa Ramos

Curated by: Edoardo Bonaspetti, Andrea Lissoni, Filipa Ramos with Enrico Boccioletti as Managing Editor.
