For ‘So You Don’t Get Lost in the Neighborhood’ Vleeshal invites artists from Zeeland to take on the role of a compass and guide their audience to interesting and inspiring places in Zeeland. On Sunday November 26, artist Yoeri Guépin will take his audience to the Zeeuws Museum for a performance filled with personal stories in the Cabinets of Wonder.

Yoeri Guépin (1983) grew up in Oostkapelle, Zeeland and currently lives and works in Rotterdam. In his installations, (lecture-)performances, projects and publications, Yoeri focusses on the production of knowledge, research and methods that are used by knowledge centres and cultural institutions to classify, order, conserve and exhibit objects and works of art. When doing so, he focusses on forgotten or outdated methods like ethnographic classification systems, as well as contemporary approaches. Which decisions are taken into account in these systems? What happens when the boundaries between an object and a work of art dissolve?

In the Zeeuws Museum, the artist will guide us along several objects from the museum collection, and will connect these via voice and language to autobiographical elements, stories and contemplations. Silent objects are brought to life and will take shape of a network of historical facts and personal memories, somewhere in between past and present.
