CAPACETE residency has been running in Rio de Janeiro for 20 years. In 2017, the program gathers a group of researchers, artists and curators from Latin America and Greece to launch a nine-month experiment in Athens. CAPACETE ATHENS is an ongoing exercise of co-habiting, co-learning and co-creating, through a dilated usage of time and a deep immersion in the local context.

Following an extensive period of escucha, CAPACETE ATHENS welcomes you to a public program during October and November, based on the political metaphor of the dysfunctional organ. 

How to put in practice other corporeal epistemologies which may shake the capitalist status quo? Our shared need to access knowledge through the sensorial dimensions of the body leads us to set up a series of participatory and experimental encounters to collectively imagine a dysfunctional organ.
 

What defines an organ is that it has a specific function. We will defy this preconception by opening up the possibility of operating as a complex and fragmented structure, elusive to classifications. Can this organ exist as a non-hierarchical assemblage of bodies, ideas and experiences? How to embrace the potentiality of error, deviate from monopolies of truth and place affection and care in the centre of creation and thinking? 
 

Thoughts and projects in progress. Introductory reflections on how our experience as residents in Athens and its cultural, economical and sociopolitical conjuncture has affected our practices and subjectivities.
