SHOOSHIE SULAIMAN
MALAY MAWAR

Opening reception:
FRIDAY, June 10 from 6 to 9pm
Exhibition dates: June 11 - July 31, 2016

"Malay Mawar is the name of the rose species that Malays use on ritualistic occasions. Rituals activate the essence of everyday contemporary life to be more poetic. It is also the title for my show in a very symbolic way. I am celebrating my late mother’s existence in my memory
this year."
Shooshie Sulaiman (extract from an interview)

MONDAY JUNE 13,
from 7 to 8.30pm
Conversation at KADIST
(The exhibition will be open from 6.30pm)

With Antoine Jacobsohn, Responsable of the King’s Kitchen Garden (Versailles).
He met Shooshie Sulaiman at the beginning of her residence, and took a philosophical walk in the King’s Kitchen Garden.

Ruth Noack, curator and writer.
In 2007, she invited Shooshie Sulaiman to participate to documenta 12 she curated.

And Shooshie Sulaiman, artist.
"A gardener’s experience demands results. An artist values the aesthetic
process. Depending on nature to begin creating has always been my
practice since my early involvement
with art.
