As part of the Arnhem Fashion Biennale 2009, the Historical Museum Arnhem transforms into a life-size version of Lizzy Ansinghs doll's house. Eight rooms filled with furniture, paintings, sculptures, video installations, artifacts and costumes.

Within a meticulously carried out context, the costumes - including collections of Sandra Backlund, Cosmic Wonder, Bernhard Willhelm and Yuima Nakazato – play a key role. In the exhibition, the principles that underlie fashion are investigated.

Fashion is shown in relation to visual art and design including pieces from the collection of both the Historical Museum Arnhem and the Museum of Modern Art Arnhem, besides the works from different visual artists among which current DAI student Jimini Hignett.

La Maison de Poupée is an ode to the ancient dollhouse owners as to todays fashion and art lovers. Fashion exists by the virtue of its context and as the likes of Lizzy Ansingh, Suze May Sho has recreated this context in the Historical Museum.
