Christiane Berndes
Christiane Berndes is currently Curator and Head of Collections of the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven. She recently curated together with Charles Esche and Diana Franssen 'Once Upon a Time... The Collection Now', a five year display of the Van Abbemuseum's collection of modern and contemporary art. Other projects she curated include 'Play Van Abbe', a two-year programme around the collection of the museum, including exhibitions, commissions, projects, lectures, publications and a symposium (2009-2011), 'Plug In; Re-imagining the Collection' (2006-2009), 'What Happened to Art' (2006), 'Nederland Niet Nederland' (2004-2005), 'stanley brouwn' (2005) and 'One on One' (2004). From 2000 -2014 she was a member of the steering committee of the SBMK (Foundation for the Conservation of Contemporary Art).
She studied Art at Jan van Eyck Academy, Maastricht and Art History at Utrecht University. During her studies she worked as Assistant Curator at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam and the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven.
