Every DAI week, one full day is dedicated to lecture-presentations or lecture-performances by students. Following a model that has been developed and chiseled since 2003, seven to eight students each present a 20 minute update of their research to an audience consisting of their fellow students, interested 'outsiders' and two, monthly changing respondents (invited artists, theoreticians, curators). Beginning their presentation with a carefully crafted key question addressing both guests the students will each present aspects of their praxis / works in process / reference sets, rather than finished works. Following each presentation, in a conversational mode, both respondents try to simultaneously reflect on the presentation while engaging with the question. The discussion between the guests is (lightly) moderated by Gabriëlle Schleijpen.
In June 2014 DAI will organize a three day 'marathon' where all students, in the presence of all core tutors/ project leaders will present a final research update or a performative work (within the limits of the set time frame). These presentations will function as the final assesment of the overall performance / learning trajectory of the student in the academic year 2013-2014. The public is welcome to attend.
